Calls to check burst pipes and water leaks following big freeze
WHETHER a farmer or not, all folks are being urged to check their water meters for leaks following the thaw that has come after last week’s big freeze.
Caherlistrane farmer Rose Mary McDonagh, Chairwoman of the IFA Farm Business Committee, said that farmers should keep a lookout for burst pipes and issues with water in troughs on their land, particularly given the fact that most stock are being housed for the winter months.
Farmers were busy last week ensuring their livestock had access to water, whether in the shed or otherwise, battling below-zero frost conditions not seen here since the winter of 2010-2011…
