Cross-party support for reopening of Western Rail Corridor
Large numbers turn out at conference
CROSS-PARTY political support for Phases 2 and 3 of the Western Rail Corridor is said to be in the majority.
That is according to Galway East TD Seán Canney, who was speaking at a regional development conference held on Saturday in Tuam’s Ard Rí House Hotel, organised by West on Track and hosted by Action Tuam.
The opening phases of the Western Rail Corridor would see rail connectivity return to the town of Tuam.
“I can confirm that there is a submission going to the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Minister for Transport requesting the reopening of the Western Rail Corridor Phase 2 and 3 north from Athenry through Tuam and onto Claremorris, which has the support of more than 110 members of the Oireachtas across all political parties and Independents,” said Deputy Canney…
