Clarin College welcomes Minister Foley for official opening
Host of dignitaries visit Athenry school
CLARIN College was one of three schools in east Galway to welcome Education Minister Norma Foley on a visit to the region last Friday, where she officiated at the opening of their new school in Athenry.
Minister Foley was welcomed to the state-of-the-art school, which opened in the midst of the Covid pandemic, by Shane Forde, a member of the Student Council.
A host of dignitaries attended the opening, including TDs Ciaran Cannon and Anne Rabbitte, and Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council and Chair of Galway-Roscommon Education Training Board, Cllr Michael ‘Mogie’ Maher. GRETB Chief Executive David Leahy and representatives of JJ Rhatigan Building Contractors were also in attendance.
Unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion, Minister Foley said she was honoured to have been invited to witness the next chapter in Clarin College’s journey and she congratulated all involved in bringing the new school building to fruition…
