Headford unveiled as Galway’s second Smart Village
MEP Maria Walsh announces designation
HEADFORD has been become Galway’s second designated ‘Smart Village Destination’ under an EU funded scheme to improve the sustainability of rural areas, launched in the town by MEP Maria Walsh.
Smart Village status offers qualifying areas the chance to be more competitive and Headford follows Mountbellew as a member of the scheme, which is administered by Galway Rural Development.
A huge crowd attended the first meeting at the Anglers Rest Hotel last Saturday, with local councillors Andrew Reddington and Mary Hoade welcoming the opportunities the designation brings to the town.
