Fundraising campaign for mum in ICU six weeks after crash
THE family of a Killererin woman who was seriously injured in a car accident in Co Mayo in February has set up a fundraising campaign to help provide for her future care.
Mother of one Michelle Donnellan was traveling in a car with her parents, Michael and Kathleen, when it was in collision with a HGV truck on the stretch of road between Charlestown and Swinford.
Michelle’s father Michael died from his injuries five days after the incident while her mother is continuing to recover at home.
Fifty-three-year-old Michelle suffered severe brain and spinal injuries and has been in ICU ever since.
Speaking to The Tuam Herald, Michelle's daughter Louise O’Boyle said the family have reluctantly launched the Go Fund me page, which has a target of €250,000. “We wish we didn’t have to ask for anything. We are very grateful to everyone for all of their support. We don’t want to have to ask. People have been very good and want to help,” added the 20-year-old.
