Tuam-German design books place in finals

A GERMAN exchange student and a Tuam Transition Year student will fly the flag for North Galway in this year’s Junk Kouture national finals, following their success in the regional leg of the prestigious fashion competition.

Scoil Bhride, Mercy Secondary students Zora Pecigos and Hannah Hynes have reached the grand final with their stunning design, Electric Ice-atop, which is made from electric fencing tape - woven, plaited and knitted into intricate panels and motifs.

Zora, who came to Tuam last December as an exchange student, had never heard of the competition, but will now be modelling the dress on the catwalk at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in May.
