Just one bed to go at Tuam nursing home
Relief that appeal of HIQA recommendations were successful
THE number of beds being lost at Tuam’s public nursing home due to new regulations being enforced by HIQA from the start of the year has been reduced from five to just one.
It’s the best possible outcome that HSE West could have hoped for after it appealed to HIQA, which had sought the closure of five beds at Aras Mhuire on the Dublin Road.
It will be a relief for those at the long-outdated home, as it holds on and eagerly awaits the completion of a new multi-million purpose-built facility on the Stockwell Road.
