Goals key as St Jarlath’s defeat Colman’s in final

“THE mighty, mighty Jarlath’s.” A key line in one of the many chants belted out by students of St. Jarlath’s College on Saturday afternoon at Tuam Stadium, at a ground that heaved with the sound of young, excited voices from the Tuam and Claremorris secondary schools present.

St Jarlath’s defeated St Colman’s College by 3-6 to 0-9 in the Mezzino.ie Connacht Post Primary Senior A Football Championship final, securing their 49th Connacht title in the process.

Connacht titles were all the rage in St. Jarlath’s for many a year, but Saturday’s victory represented their first in a decade, in what was their first provincial final since 2013.
