Parade organisers making up for lost time
St Patrick’s Day parades return
St Patrick’s Day parades will make a welcome return to towns and villages across North Galway next month for the first time since 2019.
For most organisers and committees involved, they do admit they’re up against the clock after being given short notice following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions last month.
Even still, the various event planners remain hopeful of delivering some of the biggest and brightest parades to ever take place across the region, with many hoping that the extra bank holiday on March 18 (for 2022 only) will encourage many people to return home to their families for an extended break.
The overriding theme among organisers was their desire to make up for lost time following the pandemic. Yet, for most, they admitted facing struggles in gathering the required number of volunteers to bring their ambitious projects to fruition.
