Vital social outlet for older people back up and running in Claregalway
THE doors of the Claregalway and District Day Care Centre swung open again last month.
Shut for a year and a half, on September 6, the elderly people who attend the centre from local parishes like Athenry, Oranmore and Claregalway itself had the chance to reunite with faces they hadn’t seen in the flesh in some time.
The centre is operating at 50 per cent capacity in terms of service users who can be catered for, with a bus available to transport people to and from the centre. In the townland of Cregboy, the building is shared with Western Alzheimer’s. Allied to the people back visiting the centre again, there are also those who have been living on the two-acre site full-time since last year.
