Slevin becomes Ireland’s first World All Around finalist
CLAREGALWAY's Emma Slevin broke further new ground for Irish gymnastics yesterday morning [Tuesday] by becoming the first competitor from this country to qualify for the All Around finals at the World Championships.
The Renmore Gymnastics Club member and Coláiste Bhaile Chláir student finished in 21st position to seal her place among the top 24 gymnasts for the All Around final which takes place on Thursday morning in Kitakyushu, Japan.
Slevin also became the first Irish gymnast to qualify for an All Around final in the European Gymnastics Championships this summer and Tuesday's performance marks another major step forward in her bid to reach the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
