It’s farewell to The Sports as plans lodged to demolish old Tuam nightclub

IT’S a place that will linger in many people’s memories for the craic, the dancefloor, the fake IDs and the place where many of us who were too young and too old all ended up on a Saturday night.

The Sportsman’s Inn nightclub has had several name changes over the years, from The Source to Cuba, but it will always be known as The Sports. And while it hasn’t operated for many years, there’s now no hope of it returning as there are plans to demolish it and replace it with a new residential and commercial building.

A planning application for a significant redevelopment of the site has been lodged with Galway County Council by P&C Investments Ltd.
