Vaccinations surpass 100,000 at Ballybrit as cases rise in city

THE number of Covid-19 vaccinations administered at the Ballybrit vaccination centre surpassed the 100,000 mark over the weekend.

There are now an average of between 6,000 and 8,000 people being vaccinated at the Galway Racecourse every week. Staff are giving a mix of the first and second dose to those aged 35-69 who registered online.

Despite more people being vaccinated there has been a 30 per cent increase in Covid cases in the Galway city area in recent weeks. In response the HSE has opened a new walk-in Covid-19 testing centre at Forster Street in the city which will be open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
