Athenry mural changes colour, depending on the weather
A NEW colourful public art mural in Athenry town centre changes colour depending on the weather. A shower of rain will result in the abstract painting changing in colour and shape.
The Athenry mural by street artist Shane O’Malley follows on from a similar installation that he created on Church Street, Galway city last year as part of the Hope it Rains art programme that has been part of Galway 2020.
Located just above the Square on the gable end of Glynn’s Bar in the centre of Athenry, Changing States is an abstract painting whose shape, size and colour changes in reaction to rainfall. The direction, intensity and amount of rain determine which version of the mural is visible, making it as changeable as the weather.
