World’s largest sports air dome is up and ready for action
COVID-19 has for the moment stalled plans for a grand opening but Connacht GAA's ground-breaking, state-of-the-art €3.1 million Air Dome is almost ready for business.
The impressive new facility dominates the landscape at the provincial body's home in Bekan, located between Ballyhaunis and Knock, and with the dome inflated since late July, sound system and lighting installed, and fencing and outside ground works nearing completion, it will swing open its doors in the first week in October.
Officially, it's the largest sports air dome in the world — 150 metres in length, 100 metres wide and 26 metres high.
