Killilea to contest election in Galway East
TUAM Municipal District Councillor Donagh Killilea will be running in the upcoming General Election in Galway East.
He joins sitting Deputy Anne Rabbitte on the Fianna Fáil ticket to contest the three-seat constituency.
Several names had been in contention in the northern part of the constituency and the party held interviews with possible candidates earlier this week.
Cllr Killilea from Belclare who lives in Tuam with his family has been a member of Galway County Council for a number of years and this will be his first General Election.
He is son of the late Fianna Fáil stalwart and former Councillor, TD, Senator and MEP Mark Killilea who died just over a year ago.
