Dunmore take quarter-final berth
THE annual festival was in full flow in the public houses of Dunmore on Friday night, and the parish’s footballers provided locals with more ammunition to be cheerful for when storming to a six-point victory over Cortoon Shamrocks on the back of a scintillating second half display.
It was an important evening for Milltown also 27 years after the club last hosted a Galway club championship fixture. Their club members did a sterling job of ensuring that those attending the newly revamped Fr Conroy Park had the best vantage points possible to watch the action unfold from, and the game itself certainly did not disappoint.
Cortoon deservedly held a 1-9 to 1-3 lead after 28 minutes of the first period. However, Matthew Redington converted two frees prior to half-time to send Dunmore into the changing rooms four rather six behind their neighbours.
