Members not given say in Council’s input to rail review

 “ABSOLUTELY appalling” is how Junior Minster and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon has described Galway County Council’s decision to make a submission to the Western Rail Corridor review without consulting its 39 elected members.
CEO of Galway County Council Kevin Kelly told members at Monday’s meeting that the Council had made a submission to the review. The six-week period of public consultation ended last week on July 17.
The four-page document outlines the local authority’s support for the re-opening of the disused railway line between Athenry and Claremorris.
