THE summer sun has arrived and it’s going to get hotter in the West!
So hot, that Met Eireann has issued a high temperature weather warning for Co Galway tomorrow (Thursday) where temperatures could reach over 27 degrees in places.
A status yellow high temperature warning is in place for counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Temperatures will be in excess of 27 degrees Celsius, during Thursday afternoon and the warning is in place from 1pm tomorrow until 7pm.
Met Eireann say tomorrow will be a dry and sunny day in the West, but rather breezy in moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds. It will be very warm and humid, with highest temperatures of 24 to 28 degrees.
The good weather is also expected to remain throughout Friday with temperatures in the high 20s. There is a risk of some thundery downpours to develop in the West but Met Eireann says there is uncertainty about this as yet.
People are urged to apply sun protection with a high SPF while out in the sun and to be vigilant if cooling down in the sea or other recreation areas.
