Tuam rallies to secure life-saving cancer treatment for Regina
A TUAM man whose wife has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer has appealed to friends throughout the region to support a fundraising drive so that she can begin lifesaving treatment in the US.
Jason Donoghue, of Dublin Road, married Regina Duffy, a native of Westport, last March. Regina, a languages teacher in St Colman’s College, Claremorris, was diagnosed with her third cancer diagnosis in the past eight years in December.
The couple flew out to New York earlier this month for a consultation at one of the world’s top cancer hospitals where Regina, 38, has undergone tests.
Speaking to The Tuam Herald from the States this week, Jason said his wife needed to start a treatment plan immediately, but the US health system required full payment before that could happen.
