GARDAI are appealing for information following the theft of a substantial sum of money from a Tuam store and filling station over the Christmas.
Sharkey’s Spar Express on Bishop Street was broken into in the early hours of Christmas Eve when four men gained entry to the premises through a side door.
They made their way to the office where they took the safe before making their escape in the direction of the Bermingham Road.
Garda Sergeant Michael Bradley of Tuam Garda Station said the VW Golf was used in the robbery had been reported stolen on Sunday, December 23.
“The incident was captured on CCTV cameras outside the premises, the footage from which shows four men forcing their way through a side door of the shop between 2.50am and 3am on December 24,” he said.
