Grá for Gaeilge grows in Claregalway

 “BEATHA teanga í a labhairt” is an old seanfhocail or old adage which roughly translates to “a life of a language is to speak it”.
Around the country, the Bliain na Gaeilge campaign has been running since the beginning of the year to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Irish revival movement which was started by Conradh na Gaeilge, an organisation that promotes the language both in Ireland and abroad.
The drive will see a year-long programme of creative, artistic and community activities and events to celebrate Irish and to encourage increased participation in the national language.
One scheme currently running is Ciorcal Gaeilge Baile Chláir, a small weekly group who meet in a newly built community facility called The Hub in Claregalway every Friday to share their grá for our native tongue and to continue the traditions of what remains a proud Gaeltacht region.
