‘Big step up’ as new Tuam Fire Station opens
TUAM’s new €2.4m fire station becomes operational today (Wednesday), as fire fighters leave the former station on High Street that has served the town for over 60 years.
Construction work on the new facility on the Milltown Road began last December, eight years after the site was purchased by Galway County Council.
Funded by the National Directorate Fire Emergency Management, under the auspices of the Department of Local Government, the station is expected to be officially opened by Minister Eoghan Murphy later this year.
