New book on Big Tom
AS the book titled Big Tom – The King of Irish Country, is due to be published by O’Brien Press next month, a marble seat in memory of the singer is also planned for Glenamaddy, the town he immortalised in his hit “Four Country Roads”.
The plans are for the Glenamaddy marble seat to be launched prior to a function on Friday night September 28 in Mannion’s Bar, a venue that Tom played in, as well as in the nearby Sound of Music Club.
Glenamaddy-born Julie Healy, a long-time fan of Big Tom, says she is currently putting the finishing touches to the Glenamaddy event and it is likely that the seat will be located close to the town centre.
