Minister Harris opens Primary Care Centre
HEALTH minister Simon Harris has officially opened Tuam’s €9m Primary Care Centre which he has described as a building block towards a full health campus for the town. The minister, who stopped off in Mountbellew last Monday morning to visit the town’s primary care centre which he was unable to open last year due to illness, said the facilities were the way forward in delivering better health care.
Arriving at the Tuam centre on the Sean Purcell Road, Mr Harris took time to meet with staff and service users at the centre which opened to the public last December.
Addressing the gathering in the courtyard of the centre, which was built in a joint construction venture of local firm JJ Rhatigan and Balfour Beatty, Mr Harris said Tuam had progressed in recent years in terms of its health services.
