Benji comes home, thanks to The Herald!
A LAVALLY family are celebrating this week after their beloved pet dog was recovered after an appeal in The Tuam Herald.
Benji, an eight-year-old black Labrador, went missing from his home in Fortbrowne on June 23, after fireworks let off during bonfire night celebrations frightened him.
His owner, Mary Smyth, feared the worst when four days later the dog was nowhere to be seen.
“We tried everything, we put appeals out on Facebook and notices up in Lavally Church but no one had seen him,” she said.
“We were out all day looking for him on the Sunday but as the days went by we were sure there was no way back for Benji, especially in this heat, so the paper was our last hope.”
The appeal went in last week’s edition of The Tuam Herald, and within hours Mary’s phone was ringing with possible sightings of her much loved pet.
