WATCH: Making hay while the sun shines

THE DAWN chorus has been at risk of being drowned out by the constant hum of tractors at sunrise over the past two weeks as farmers cut grass fields as quickly as possible.

The Tuam Herald came across three men who had no fear of putting their backs into hay making on the outskirts of Tuam.

It was a rare sight to come across on a bright and warm summer’s evening; a tradition that has been lost to archives and historical farming reconstruction events.
