Galway's show of strength

LEINSTER championship hurling arrived with a bang in Salthill on Sunday, as Galway demolished Brian Cody’s Kilkenny outfit in front of 18,775 spectators.
The reigning All-Ireland champions eased over their first proper obstacle in their quest to repeat the feat of the Cyril Farrell-led 1987 and ’88 back-to-back winners.
Galway were ruthlessly effective in defence, dominant in the physical exchanges and at times breathtakingly majestic in attack, without incredibly ever properly getting into full stride.
