WORK is progressing on the redevelopment of Tuam town centre hotel

Demolition works which are a significant part of the expansion of the Corralea Court Hotel are nearing completion.
The redevelopment of the long-standing hotel will include the conversion of the adjoining commercial and residential three storey building which was formerly Forkan's Butchers many years ago. It was also used as a computer repair shop and a bookmakers.
In the past few weeks construction workers have been busy on site clearing the vacant building and knocking its façade.
Last year the owners of the hotel were granted planning permission for the conversion of the three-storey building which will be used as an extension of the adjoining hotel.
The development will consist of the provision of a reception area, lobby and toilets at ground floor. Additional hotel bedroom accommodation is planned on the first and second floor levels.
The front of the existing hotel and adjoining building will be altered and a new hotel entrance, signage and glazing provided.
The hotel, which currently has 24 bedrooms, has seen many changes over the years and it has been in the Square since the 19th century. It has also had several names – previously being The Imperial, Guy's and Daly's Hotel.
