Athenry cyclist aims for 2020 Olympics after progress in World Ch’ships
ATHENRY track cyclist Lydia Gurley represented Ireland in three events at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships that reached a conclusion on Sunday in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
The Madison Race, in which she teamed up with Lydia Boylan, brought her best result in ninth. The 33-year-old recorded finishes of 15th and 16th in the Scratch and Points Races, respectively.
Qualification for the championships was based on results from the Track World Cups in the 2017-2018 season and Gurley made up a six-member Ireland team.
