WATCH: Ballinasloe hospital staff scoop €500,000 in EuroMillions draw
A GROUP of staff work at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe has scooped €500,000 in the EuroMillions draw.
The 18-person syndicate have contacted the National Lottery who have confirmed that the Ballinasloe staff are the lucky winning ticket holders of last night's (Tuesday) EuroMillions Plus prize.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought yesterday (Tuesday) at the Oasis Shop which caters for hospital patients, visitors and workers.
It's understood that the syndicate is made up of administration staff at the hospital which has a wide catchment area.
Trish O’Donoghue, manager of the shop in the hospital said, “This is absolutely crazy! Since we opened the doors this morning, we have been inundated with well-wishers and hopeful customers who are checking their tickets! We are genuinely over the moon for whoever the winner is.
“As a hospital store, all of our customers will be directly associated with the hospital, either as patients, visitors or members of staff. It’s an amazing feeling that we can bring so much joy to the winners with this win,” she said.
