Galway switch sights to Mayo
GALWAY's impressive return to Division 1 continued in the hills of Donegal last Sunday afternoon, a win that leaves Kevin Walsh's side on maximum points after the opening two rounds and lodged between between All-Ireland champions Dublin and National League winners Kerry in the early standings.
The demands of the top flight are relentless this spring and after facing down Ulster's most successful sides in recent seasons, Tyrone and Donegal, Galway must now turn their attentions to an altogether more familiar proposition as Mayo come to town for the second of three scheduled fixtures between the counties this year.
For what it's worth, Galway shaded the opening clash in the FBD Connacht League at the near-waterlogged MacHale Park in early January. That fixture wasn't without its share of niggle and Sunday's meeting, their first in the National League since 2011, is sure to further whet the appetite ahead of an eagerly-awaited Connacht Senior Football Championship quarter-final in Castlebar.
