Tuam meeting on Galway 2020 grant funding

A PUBLIC meeting takes place in Tuam tonight (Tuesday, Jan 30) to share information on how local communities can get involved in the Small Towns Big Ideas project.

The Small Towns Big Ideas was a pilot project of the Capital of Culture bid and ran in a number of towns, including Headford and Ballygar. Now the initiative is being rolled out to the entire county with grants of between €1,000 and €20,000 available.
As part of the European Captial of Culture in 2020 hundreds of projects and events will take place in the city and county, all exloring the programmes central themes of landscape, language and migration.
The Small Towns Big Ideas project is open to any community group from the city or county; be it a village, a youth or active retired group, association or school who have an idea for a cultural project and would like support to realise the project. The grants will assist groups to make their idea a reality and encourage more people be involved in Galway 2020.
