Residents facing green meadows as Council have no cash to cut the grass
PLAYGROUNDS and open spaces in some private housing estates are turning into little jungles because the grass isn’t being cut.
That’s according to Co Cllr Dermot Connolly who claims some areas have been higher than any farmer’s meadow and tax-payers deserve a service from their local authority.
However, officials with Galway Co Council are adamant that, given ongoing budget cuts, the resources are no longer there to send grass cutting crews into private estates, even when they have been taken in charge by the local authority.
