Galway set for Tyrone visit
FOR the first time since 2011, Galway will play their football in the top flight of the Allianz League and their condensed Division 1 programme begins with Sunday’s clash against Tyrone at Tuam Stadium (throw-in: 2.30pm).
Fixtures will come fast and furious with seven regulation rounds in Division 1, plus an FBD Connacht League final with Roscommon, to fit in over the next nine Sundays.
Both All-Ireland finalists, Dublin and Mayo, and Monaghan will come to visit in the coming weeks and months, with Galway facing away days in Donegal, Kerry and Donegal.
Galway manager Kevin Walsh and his charges will be intent on hitting the ground running against the Red Hands on Sunday.
Last Sunday's much-publicised dead-rubber with Roscommon fell foul to the weather, denying the Tribesmen the perfect opportunity to fine-tune preparations for their meeting with a Tyrone side that has, as ever, hit the ground running in the pre-season Dr McKenna Cup.
"The postponement was not welcome," admitted Walsh to Herald Sport earlier this week.
