Refunds available to patrons after Castlebar postponement
THERE is light at the end of the tunnel for Galway and Mayo fans unable to attend any of the remaining FBD Connacht League games with the vouchers they were given leaving MacHale Park, following the last-minute cancellation of the Mayo-Galway game on Sunday.
Connacht GAA will refund those people who received a voucher, not in a position to make another FBD League match, if they post the voucher to them. However, patrons that threw their ticket stub away after paying in through the gate on Sunday afternoon, which many people understandably did, are out of luck.
“Fans have a choice of days to use the voucher. It will get Galway people into the rest of Galway’s games, and the final even if Galway aren’t in it, and it’s the same for Mayo fans. If they can’t make any of those matches, then they can post the voucher to us and we’ll refund it,” said Connacht GAA Secretary John Prenty.
“We shift the money off site at various times of a match-day, because we can’t be holding a stash of money in one place for security reasons. Logistically it’s not possible to give a refund. It’s GAA policy all over the place to do what we did on Sunday.”
