Dan and Shay will (Country) Rock the West on Saturday
WHEN new young US Country duo Dan+Shay (that's how they spell it) hit the stage at the Harvest Country Festival in Westport this Saturday they will Rock the event with their modern style of Country.
While Dan Smyers was raised in Wexford he is not Irish – because his home place is Wexford, Pennsylvania. James (Shay) Mooney is from Arkansas and both men are in their late 20s.
The two met in Nashville in 2012, and started writing the day after they met. The first song they ever wrote together got put on hold for Rascal Flatts but within months the duo had multiple publishing offers and eventually signed with the Warner Records label.
Their debut single titled 19 You + Me was a massive success and when released as one track on their 12 track debut album Where it All Began the CD went on to sell a staggering 160,000 in the USA in 2014.
They made their debut at the venue affectionately known as the Mother Church of Country, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville that same year and they also received a 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards Vocal Duo of the Year nomination.
