Athenry protest group demand action
FRUSTRATION at the lack of investment and development in Athenry led to a group from the town staging a protest at County Hall this week.
The Future Looking Athenry Group (FLAG) staged the protest on Monday ahead of the July council meeting. They are seeking urgent action regarding the upgrading of the town's sewerage system and the installation of pedestrian crossings and wheelchair accessible footpaths.
Kevin Higgins, one of those protesting, said the local community were unwilling to accept the ongoing lack of investment in the town.
