Galway complete three-in-a-row in last minor final
AFTER 87 years, the curtain fell on the Connacht Minor Football Championship as an U-18 competition on Sunday with Galway laying claim to their 28th title and a three in-a-row by virtue of a convincing win over Sligo.
The Pearse Stadium curtain-raiser was heavily impacted by the elements and much of the groundwork for a home victory was laid inside the opening half as Galway took a 1-6 to 0-6 advantage to the dressing rooms after playing into the elements at the Ãrus Bóthar na Trá end.
Conor Campbell's superb individual goal on 17 minutes proved the game-breaking score and put paid to Sligo's designs on a first provincial title since 1968.
