Counselling waiting lists may leave Galway teens at risk
WAITING lists for youth counselling in Tuam and Galway have sparked an urgent lobbying campaign to secure State funding for the service that is in danger of being discontinued.
Demand has forced the service to reduce the age it offers counselling from 15 to 12 and counsellors are very concerned that young teens aren't getting help when they need it.
Members of Youth Work Ireland's Comhairle na nOg addressed Oireachtas members at a meeting in Galway city this week where they presented them with two action plans for the service, which also operates in Ballinasloe and Loughrea.
