Gritty Galway take major step

GALWAY hadn't defeated Mayo in Pearse Stadium since 2007, but unlike ten years ago when the seaside venue was awash with powerful sunshine, Sunday's gritty win matched the inclement weather borne from the teeth of the howling Atlantic Ocean nearby.
For Galway, it wasn't just about beating Mayo, it was about showing everyone that last season's win over this decade’s dominant county in Connacht was no fluke.
