Windmills in Cloonlusk will go electric in July
By Mark Walsh
THEY can now be seen from the N17 and from many other vantage points in the locality, but the two windmills in Cloonlusk, Killererin were some 17 years in the making.
It is expected they will be fully operational in July, and work is taking place on land owned by the Tierney family. When they are up and running, cables will connect the windmills to the EirGrid at the Cloon substation on the Athenry Road, where they will feed power into the national grid.
Enercon, a German company, are acting as the Project Stage Construction Supervisors with the brief of getting the two windmills off the ground and into the air. They own the still active site until July, and when they're gone it will be open to the public to enter and have a closer look at the giant structures.
