Beds dumped in bog mar launch of anti litter Garda checkpoints
LESS than a week after Garda checkpoints were introduced to combat illegal dumping, Galway County Council is facing another clean-up operation at a bog on the outskirts of Tuam.
Ballinderry bog is the latest scene of destruction following the dumping of 11 mattresses, bed frames and other materials over the weekend. The rubbish has blocked access to two bogs with one of the landowners reporting the incident to community wardens on Monday.
Gardaí who were on patrol on the approach road to Abbeyknockmoy last week as part of the council’s Cleaner Greener Galway campaign, received a positive response from motorists.
