International campaign to save Quiet Man station roof from collapse

ONE of north Galway’s most iconic train stations is seeking public support to preserve the historic building, famed for its starring role in one of Hollywood’s most legendary films.
Ballyglunin train station, which featured in The Quiet Man, has been the focus of community efforts to secure funding for its restoration in recent years.
However, conservation experts have warned that the building is at risk of collapse if urgent action is not taken.
An international crowd funding campaign will be launched at the station on Thursday evening in a bid to raise €30,000 to fund the roof repairs needed to protect the building.
