No complaints as Galway U-21s fall to well-drilled Dublin side

THE CLARKE CUP will have its final resting place in the capital after Dublin’s joint-captains Con O’Callaghan and Cillian O’Shea gleefully held it afloat in O’Connor Park last Saturday evening with President Michael D Higgins looking on.
The President was in Limerick the weekend before to hand over the National League Division 1 trophy to Galway hurling captain David Burke, and how he would have enjoyed making a similar presentation to Michael Daly, but it wasn’t to be alas.
Dublin didn’t have the most talented group of footballers, something readily admitted by their manager Dessie Farrell in the aftermath, but they still outworked and outplayed Galway. They trailed by a point at the break after shooting seven wides, but Galway could have been further behind were it not for two fine saves from keeper Ronán Ó Beoláin.
