Tuam's Brendan gets first taste of Eurovision frenzy
HE’S got 34,000 followers on Twitter and is just back from whirlwind visits to Israel, Amsterdam and Madrid, but Ireland’s Eurovision hopeful Brendan Murray still loves living in his home town of Tuam.
It will be a busy and exciting few weeks for the 20-year-old who will sing for Ireland in Kyiv, Ukraine on May 11. This week he’s in Dublin rehearsing and doing media interviews and on Friday he makes a return visit to The Late Late Show where he will perform Ireland’s 2017 Eurovision entry 'Dying to Try’ ahead of flying to Kyiv on May 1.
“It’s been an incredible few weeks. I flew out to Israel and got about three hours’ sleep before all of the Eurovision countries entries met each other ahead of a red carpet performance.”
Brendan’s mum and dad, Frank and Julianne, will be anxiously watching Brendan’s semi-final performance on May 11 from Tuam but Brendan’s sister Sinéad, brother Barry and uncle Brendan will be in Kyiv to cheer him on – along with many other Irish Eurovision fans.
