A BRUISING and frenzied Connacht Junior Cup final ended with Monivea collecting the title for the fifth time and they were made to fight to the very last whistle by Ballinasloe.
They would have expected nothing less of course. It was fitting the club’s latest trophy should come on the 25th anniversary of when they won their first provincial Junior Cup. Four years on from their last success in the competition, Head Coach Paul Flanagan managed to work his magic touch again. Ballinasloe, founded as far back as 1875, will have to wait another year for a crack at a cup they last won in 1986.
Monivea’s victory was predicated on a very solid defence, high fitness levels and good game management.
