Headford mother's climb nets over €17k for charity
A HEADFORD family has presented a cheque for almost €17,500 to the National Council for the Blind in Ireland after their mother scaled Africa’s highest peak last month.
Sharon Moran reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro days after her 37th birthday in what was the culmination of a three-month charity campaign.
Two of Sharon’s three young sons have been diagnosed with an incurable eye condition that will eventually lead to blindness.
Adam, 12, and Nathan, 10 were diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) in September 2015 and since their diagnosis both boys’ vision has slowly deteriorated, with their night vision severely impaired.
