New old Tuam beat from Derek

THE heading sounds contradictory but a new “old style” beat is what young Tuam singer Derek Holian and his new band will perform at their debut date in Galway this Friday night.
Dad of two Derek is originally from Church View and he and his partner, Mary Nally, live in Cois na hAbhainn with their children Leah (5) and Derek Jr (2).
As far back as Derek can remember he has been a fan of many of the earlier Rock 'n’ Roll stars such as Elvis, and Dean Martin. He says that listening to this older style music through his formative years is what shaped his vocal style.

The live debut is Friday March 3 at The Loft in Galway above the Seven Bar on Bridge Street. Doors at 9.30 and admission is €10.
