High stakes for Galway hurling
AFTER GALWAY’S hopes for an immediate return to the National Hurling League’s top tier all but evaporated in the Pearse Stadium mist on Sunday afternoon, the county’s latest battle for full integration into Leinster takes centre-stage this weekend.
Liam Mellows’ motion that Galway’s senior, intermediate, U-21 and minor teams be allowed to compete in all Tier 1 competitions in a single provincial system was unanimously endorsed and approved by the delegates present at December’s County Convention in the Salthill Hotel, and will be put before GAA’s Annual Congress on Saturday.
